StageCase
StageCase MUSICAL DIRECTOR FOR ABLETON LIVE

Was du brauchst

curl -fsSL https://looperpilot.github.io/install.sh | sh

  2. Alles kommt an seinen Platz

Ableton Live einrichten (einmalig)

  1. Live neu starten

Starten, beenden, Probleme

Loopers, clips, setlist, lead sheet, mixer and audio interface for Ableton Live – in one app on the Mac and on every tablet in the room.

This is the short guide. Everything about using it lives in the app itself: menu ❓ Help – searchable, in English and German, and it opens at the page you are on.

What you need

Install and update

Open Terminal (⌘ Space, “Terminal”) and paste this line – it installs and updates:

curl -fsSL https://looperpilot.github.io/install.sh | sh
  1. Sign in to GitHub the first time

The script shows a code, copies it and opens the GitHub page – paste it, confirm. If the GitHub command-line tool is missing, the script fetches it.

  2. Everything goes to its place

The StageCase app to Applications, the Stagecase script to ~/Music/Ableton/User Library/Remote Scripts, template and demo set to Live’s templates, the MC6 Pro bank to ~/Music/Ableton/LooperPilot/Presets. Old LooperPilot apps and the three old scripts are removed.

  3. The app starts

First the logo, then the start page with every page as a tile. Tab switches between the start page and the page you used last – any time.

Without Terminal: download StageCase-….zip from LooperPilot/looper-pilot → Releases, unzip it and run sh install.sh in the folder. When a new version is out, the app shows ⬆ Update next to its version number.

Set up Ableton Live (once)

  1. Restart Live

Quit with ⌘Q and reopen – Live reads Remote Scripts only at startup.

  2. One control surface

Settings → Link, Tempo & MIDI: choose Stagecase in a free row, input Stagecase, output Stagecase. That’s it – nanoKONTROL2, MC6 Pro and SPD-SX PRO need no row of their own, StageCase finds them (also when plugged in later).

  3. No double controllers

In the MIDI ports list, switch Track and Remote off for nanoKONTROL2, MC6 Pro and SPD-SX PRO – they now run through StageCase.

  4. Open a set

Your own set, the template LooperPilotTemplate or the demo set HelpTemplate. As long as Live has no set open, the app’s start page offers “Open last set”, “New set” and “Demo”.

Coming from LooperPilot 3.x: set the old rows LooperDisplay, SPD_SX_Pro_Looper and MorningstarClips to “None” (usually they are empty after the update already). While Live still uses an old script, StageCase shows a yellow hint at the top.

Controllers

DeviceWhat it doesSetup
KORG nanoKONTROL2Record, stop and switch loopers, with LEDsplug it in
Morningstar MC6 ProClips by foot: track, scene, record – shown on its displayload the bank from the Presets folder in the Morningstar Editor
Roland SPD-SX PROLoopers and scenes by padload the kit from the download’s Presets folder

Under Extras the app lists the controllers it currently sees.

Tablet and phone

Extras → 📱 Tablet shows the address and a QR code. Scan it, open it in Safari, then Share → Add to Home Screen – StageCase then starts on the iPad like an app, without the address bar. All devices must be on the same network.
